Credit Scores

Know Your Score & Your Credit File:

Don’t depend on credit providers to tell you what is in your credit file and don’t assume you have bad credit. It is up to you to make sure your credit file is accurate. Check it at least once a year. Avoid “Credit Repair” companies that charge fees to provide a quick fix. It usually is a waste of good money. Beware of companies who claim they can "fix" or "remove" accurate issues for a fee: it is legally impossible to alter an accurate credit history.

Review Your Credit

You are entitled to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months. Order yours online from annualcreditreport.com or call 1-877-322-8228. You will need to verify your identity with your name, birth date, address and Social Security number. In addition, you may receive and monitor your credit scores for free via creditkarma.com

Your score impacts what you pay for many things in life.  Your score can impact employment, insurance, interest rates and many other areas of life. Learn More About how your score is determined
